A bulb forcing demo

Wonderful video! I'm trying to remember if I ordered tazettas from Brent and Becky...if I did I may keep some inside. Or else I may be making another order.

So when you force hyacinths in glasses, you have them in water throughout the chilling period? And that doesn't make them rot?

They are not in water, the little cupped part holds them over the water. (I think I indicated the fill level, but perhaps not)

This is very helpful and thank you for taking the time to show us. Since I can not do mass plantings this year, this forcing will maybe give me the bulb fix I'm needing.

I am totally envious of your root cellar. Did it come with the house? If you made it, your next tutorial should be How to Make Your Own Root Cellar!

Thanks so much for this video, Elizabeth! Last year was my first attempt at forcing bulbs, and though I read several articles about how to do it, I didn't have much luck. Now I see some of the mistakes I made, including burying the bulbs under too much soil:) This year I'm going to follow your excellent instructions--hopefully, I'll have some indoor blooms to show in February!

And may I just say? I HATE my kitchen cabinets! They came with the house.

Check out a cool idea for keeping paperwhite from getting too tall and toppling over. Grab your alcohol!
