Bluestone 2008: a toe in the water

Thanks to all this early spring travel I’m planning (Sicily, Austin), finances are not as healthy as they could be, so I’m getting a slow start on plant ordering. Yet I could not let Jan. 30 go by without having taken advantage of Bluestone's early bird 20% off special. As well, the solidago “Peter Pan” was a full 50% off. I also have some agastache Blue Fortune, and some verbena bonariensis coming. These are all pretty common perennials/self-seeding annuals, you’ll say, but I don’t take chances on stuff coming back up (invariably where I don’t want it) and the Bluestone prices are much better than I’ll find locally.

Once my fortunes rebound, I’ll be ordering some more from them and from Select Seed.

These all sound like winners to me. You should stash some cash for your travels. You might come home with something wonderful that you can't find around home. At least that is always my hope when we travel. :)

Travel or plants? That is a tough decision but you can always rationalize plants once the travel is done can't you?

It's near impossible to let a deal like this go by. I'm envying you the visit to Austin though and Sicily too. Once you're back, buying new plants can take centre stage again!

I share your dilemma, but only have the Austin trip to consider. An extra suitcase may have to be included to bring back the planned plant purchases from the wonderful sounding nurseries there!

Bluestone has some awesome selections! Select Seeds is one of my favorite catalogs, as I love growing heirloom flowers.
